Honda Japan has announced a stripped-out version of their saloon-bodied Japan-only Civic Type R. The JDM CTR will take part in a Type-R one-make racing series, something Japanese manufacturers are keen on with stripped out versions of Toyota's Vitz (Yaris), Nissan's March (Micra), Susuki's Swift (Ignis) and Mazda's Roadster (MX-5) all available in Japan for racing series'.
The race special loses the helical LSD, seatbelts, seats, steering wheel, interior trim, entertainment, air conditioning and the all important flare in the pursuit of weight saving. Big loses in equipment are translated into a 40% discount over the road going Civic Type R price, which sits at a very reasonable 1,690,500Yen or £7,292...
